Oshi mugs his sneer

Branch on Mt Victoria track Sunday was sunny, still and hot. I took the dogs, Sasha and Oshi for a stroll through the trees in the Town Belt. We walked down Alexandra Road as far as the spot we like to call “Lord of the Rings” where we crossed. Then we turned back, walked beside the road for a few metres then took the track on the west side of the hill, and strolled home. All up it’s probably a couple of kilometres.

The spot we call “Lord of the Rings” is opposite the track down to the velodrome. Tour outfits bring tourists there, park where the road’s slightly wider, and walk down to the probably still unmarked and otherwise unremarkable spot on Mt Victoria where one of the scenes from Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings was filmed. It’s the scene where the hobbits are hiding under tree roots from the dark riders.

The photo here is not of that particular spot, but it’s probably less than 500 metres away.

Sasha resting on a Mt Victoria track It was hot, so nearly home the dogs and I took a bit of a rest. Sasha was relaxed as usual. Oshi was bobbing about as always, and my cameraphone doesn’t have the fastest shutter. Each time I had him lined up for a nice shot he’d move before the shutter opened.

Oshi on the track on Mt Victoria Sometimes Oshi’s lip gets caught up on his teeth, giving him a bit of a sneer. He’s far too little and cute for a sneer, but in one shot he looks as though he’s mugging it for the camera.

There are a few more photos in the Cats and Dogs album.

HI Miraz gad is Oshi the big dog now! Even with a sneer he still looks very cute. I think about taking Ceilidh for a walk often, and remembered how we came round to your place over Mt Vic,, and how hot it was, just before I came to Dublin. Just incredible that it is 1 year ago. I don’t know where the time is going! Cx
